Today Canonical, the folks behind Ubuntu warmed my heart. The folks in the mail room handed me a nice white padded envelope this afternoon, branded with the family of Ubuntu logos on it. Now I’ve been around and I know a Ship It envelope when I see one. Funny thing is I didn’t request anything and when I do it always comes to my home address. Nope what I held in my hand was Canonical marketing at it’s finest and I for one was as proud as If I were Shuttleworth himself. Inside the little envelope of righteousness was 8 Ubuntu 32 bit 7.10 server disk, 2 64 bit server disk, and this wonderful note. I quote,
“Hi There,
The release of Ubuntu 7.10 back in October was a huge success for us. So, we thought it might be nice to send you a copy of our Server Edition CD, In case you haven’t heard about it, and would like to give it a go. Plus, it also doubles as a great drinking mat in case your desk needs brightening up! We highly recommend you trying it out though, it’s really great.
Warm regards,
The Canonical Team”
Clearly this is being marketed to business users of which I am one, this is perfect and about time. What better way to get business users used to seeing an Ubuntu disk laying around the computer room. Great job Canonical, I put a disk in the hands of my IT director and every systems administrator I could find.

Stumble It!
